Ethiopia, celebrated as the birthplace of coffee, reveres its agricultural traditions, with many farms continuing age-old cultivation practices passed down through generations.

Blessed with high altitudes, diverse microclimates, and fertile soils, Ethiopia provides an optimal environment for coffee cultivation. Coffee flourishes in Ethiopia's lush "coffee forests," benefiting from shade and biodiversity, while intercropping with other crops maximises land utilisation and promotes agricultural diversity.

Limu

Located in the Western highlands (1,400–2,200m) producing both washed and natural coffees with softer, rounded profiles compared to Yirga Cheffe. Known for balanced acidity, wine-like body, and layered complexity, floral undertones with citrus and spice.

Washed Limu offers gentle sweetness with cocoa and stone fruit; naturals show subtle berry character without aggressive fermentation notes.

Yirga Chefe

In Yirga Cheffe, Ethiopia, coffee thrives at elevations of 1,700–2,200 meters, where volcanic soils and cool mountain air slow the berries’ development, creating dense, flavorful beans.

Small-scale farmers tend to Arabica plots averaging 1.5 hectares, crafting coffees with lively acidity, delicate jasmine notes, and refreshing citrus hints. The region’s one-of-a-kind terroir is what makes Yirgacheffe coffee truly exceptional.

Sidama

The garden coffee production system is widely practiced in Sidama. In this region, coffee is grown near homesteads and is planted at low densities, ranging from 1,000 to 1,800 plants per hectare. To ensure quality control Sidama gardens most coffee with fertilized and organic nutrients.

Meet the Producer: Yirga Cheffe

Yirgacheffe is a picturesque region of fertile highlinds, loacted near Abaya LAke, a tranquil gathering place for local wildlife. As the birthplace of Coffee, Coffee is deeply ingrained in the region's culture, with farmers taking great pride in producing some of the most sought - after coffee in the world.

Altitudes in the area range from 1,700 - 2,200 masl, providing a perfect combination of temperature and rainfall. This allows for slow maturation of the cherry, which in combination with the washed process accentuates the coffees floral notes.
